Description: (Zea mays). This late season dent corn type gets its name from Wade Hopkins (Hop) McConnell, who operated a general store in Scott County, Virginia and introduced the variety to local farmers. Plants with no tillers grow up to 12' tall and produce 1 to 2 cylindrical ears ranging from 6 to 12 inches long with a single kernel color— red, white, or striped. About 100 days to harvest from seed.
