Two enormous problems:\r\n\r\n 1-Horrible taste.\r\n 2-Determinant, so most fruit is produced in several weeks.\r\n\r\nIf you want the taste of grocery store tomatoes, it is easier and cheaper to buy them in the store.\r\n\r\nIt produces lots of tomatoes, but none are good, so functional production is low.

very reliable, compact tomato with great taste. it is a nice all-round tomato that does well in salads, eating out of hand, and in sauce. i grow this variety in place of paste tomatoes.

Although it was crowded within our 3\' bed it produced nice red round fruit that had excellent flavor and nice for slicing. Had a few problems with blossom end rot but otherwise healthy.

Celebrity was not very productive. The plant was too large for the 3\' bed that it was grown in along with basil and borage. Tomatoes that we did get were large and nice looking.

The Celebrity tomatoes proved to be large, 7-10 oz., and juicy. The plant came as a seedling and soon overgrew the bed that it had to share with two other varieties as well as three basil and three borage plants. In fact, if planting with borage to cut down on the threat of insect damage, one borage plant would suffice for the bed. It tended to take over, initially, and one of them was removed to allow more room for the other plants. The Celebrity had to be trimmed back in order to allow room for its companion plants, but the fruit at the beginning of August was amazing. I\'m still plucking large tomatoes from the vines on 9/11.

This is my very favorite standard-size, red, \"regular\" tomato. It is reliable, with a yield that leaves other tomatoes in the dust. Produces 3- to 4-inch, smooth globes. It\'s what I would call \"medium meaty\"; that is, fruits have a balance of meaty flesh with small cavities filled with that jelly stuff (I\'m sure there\'s a technical name for it, but I don\'t know what it is) and some seeds. Very good flavor, and since it\'s such a good producer, I can always go pick a ripe one whenever I feel the whim. I have relatively little room devoted to vegetables and can only grow three tomato plants per year. After years of experiments, I have settled on growing Celebrity, Sungold, and one new cultivar every summer.

Celebrity was an indifferent performer for 2010. It's a standard not very exciting red slicing tomato. It might not be as happy here in Zone 5B as it was in 7A, as I recall it did much better and tasted better in our old warmer garden. Yield was way down on all varieties for 2010 as it was a lousy season here, so it may well do much better in a decent year!

This is a very good slicing tomato with few seeds. The first year I had it I loved the flavor, this year seemed a little less flavor "full." Adequate producer and a favorite among family members. The size is very good for slicing and a solid member for your tomato garden.

I've planted this variety for a couple of years now and really like them. One thing that I love about them is that they are crack resistant. They make a great canning tomatoe and are great just to put on the table and eat.

Celebrity is the only variety of tomato we have planted for about the last 12 to 15 years. I usually plant up to 36 plants. We get an abundance of tomatoes, which are always great tasting. We eat them at all three meals. We have always had enough to share with at least five families who are friends of ours. I have also put several quarts of them in the freezer.

Celebrity was a heavy producer, and the fruit was very attractive. However I must admit, I felt like I was eating a tomato I'd bought from the grocery store. The skin was thick, and the raw taste was bland. I would not grow them again, simply because I prefer a more versatile tomato (good raw and cooked). Most were over 10 oz in weight; I supplement my soil with compost/manure and use Miracle Grow regularly. Perhaps I will try fried green tomatoes this year; If I like them I would be compelled to grow Celebrity again.

It's an OK, easy-to-grow tomato, but if you want tasty red fruit, try other varieties. However, if you like fried green tomatoes, Celebrity is one of the very best varieties available because the full size but unripe fruit are large, firm, and blemish free. If there is a Celebrity in my garden, that's what it's there for. I love fried green tomatoes.

This has been my main crop tomato for years. It never has green shoulders and very few fruits crack. It has good disease resistance. I end up ripening under covers. This is an advertised 72 day tomato. I don't know what that means. I plant good sized plants on June 1 and get the harvest 90 to 100 days later. I would give this 5 stars if the time period was truthfully given.

Our main crop for 5 or 6 years. Reliable here. Excellent flavor, production and nice skin. No splitting, no burning, hardly ever BERot. We mulch our ground with 3-4 inches of grass hay and use soaker hoses.

I grew celebrity in two pots and put them in my south side yard. Despite the pots being slightly smaller than they preferred, Celebrity was healthy and prolific. I got dozens of tomatoes, some were easily 1 pound heavy and others half the size. While I used all organic soil and fertilizer, my tomatoes were overwatered and tasted bland. They are pretty tomatoes, heart shaped and red. My worse experience were the catapillars. I had both horn catapillars and tomatoe catapillars. They ate my tomatoes and tunneled into them causing very ugly oozing and holes in otherwise beautiful big tomatoes. I probably lost about a dozen tomatoes because of the worms. I used BT and whenever I stopped, new catapillars appeared. Otherwise, my celebrities were definitely star performers. Celebrities taste very good when cooked and the flavors are condensed. I'm not sure if I will grow it again because I wasn't impressed with their raw flavor but the skin wasn't thick as some claimed.

this tomato dissappointed me. i love brandywines, and while this was a prolific producer, i just couldn't get over how tough and thick the skins were. the flavor was just so-so for me, but these tomatoes might taste better canned (i grow mainly for fresh eating). my rutgers tomatoes tasted much better and are just as easy an prolific as this celebrity. will not grow again.

My main reliable variety. When all others fail this one can be counted on to produce baseball size fruit in large quantities. Taste was good to me. Somewhat resistant to the diseases here in the hot humid South

I hate to give such a low score after so many good ones, but I just didn't have a good experience w/Celebrity this season (08). Poor production and the plant just didn't do well all the way around. However, anybody considering the variety should keep in mind that I'm still a novice and likely there was some other problem, although I never had problems with pests.

It's a great variety to get started with growing tomatoes since it's easy to grow without problems. It's just that as you get better at gardening there's so many others that taste better, get bigger, etc.

These grow fast and produce about 30-40 tomatoes per plant. They taste good. Some had slight green shoulders. WARNING: These tomatoes gave me the farts. I was blasting off like a trumpet for hours after eating a couple of these tomatoes!

Transplanted to my garden 3rd week of May, grew to 4 feet by July, had 30-40 tomatoes on plant. medium/large size, red with green shoulder. Picking ripe tomatoes 1st week of August.These really produce and taste great. After they pump out 30-40 tomatoes the plant wilts very quickly and defoliates, but not until the tomatoes are full size. My favorite tomato so far. A true Determinate variety.

This very disease resistant tomato won the AAS award? Maybe in the early 80's they were more impressed by shape and disease resistance than flavor. Of the hybrids this does have some decent flavor but a determinant plant with just pretty decent flavor should not have gotten an AAS award, in my very humble opinion. This is a really east plant to grow as tomatoes go.

Planted a row of 6 Celebrity transplants end of May 2007. All in cages, on raised rows, did not sucker them. All grew vigorously until early July and stopped growing. Plants were 3 feet tall, bushy, lots of foliage. No disease early on. Developed 25-30 tomatoes per plant. Began ripening 3rd week of July. Picking lots of tomatoes by August. THESE PLANTS ARE TOMATO MACHINES. I am in close proximity to 100 organic gardens and no one has as many tomatoes as I do. The flavor is good to very good as long as you let them get deep red. Very meaty inside and juicy. NOTE: After the plants became overloaded with fruit, they got lots of spots/yellowing on the leaves and branches(disease?) and the plants began defoliating quickly but only after producing large quantities of basebal/softball size tomatoes. I can understand why this tomato won the AAS award. If I could only grow one tomato, this would be it. I will continue to try more varieties because i'm always looking for more flavor, but this tomato will be used as the benchmark by which the others are judged. I wish I could learn more about how it was developed, but I cannot find that info so far on the web.

My father-in-law put me on to Celebrity about 20 years ago. It's been my main tomato crop ever since. Good disease resistance; a firm tomato which makes it a great choice for salsa, canning, etc. While I do have a couple other types of tomatoes in my garden, this is by far the best, and most reliable.

I don't actually eat fresh tomatoes (which is why I can't speak for the taste), but I grow them for my husband (avid consumer of tomatoes but not much of a connoisseur) and canning salsa. Celebrity is always in my garden. It never fails to be robust and deliver generous yields of nice-sized fruit.

This variety is listed as a determinate but if it is one, it is on steroids. In the early part of the season, before our 90+ days and 80+ nights set in, it yeilds continuously, admittedly more slowly after the the first 4-5 weeks but it never stops not until the high heat has been around for awhile. In the fall(mid to late Sept. here), if you prune it back and give it a good side dressing of blood and bone meal as a boost and fertilize normally after that it will produce again until frost. When I returned home after month away following Katrina I restood the blown over plants and gave them the prescribed boost. I picked continuously until December (small fruit) and when I went out in mid February to begin to prep for the next season I found two old plants were yielding again, tho the output was barely Ping Pong ball sized. I will never stop with this variety as long as i grow vegetables.

It's a healthy and productive variety, but like most of the popular commercial varieties, I find the flavor to be nothing special. I did like it a little better than Big Boy or Better Boy, but that could simply be due to environmental conditions.

This is a great tomato if you have problems with blights and wilts. It has great disease resistants with good yields.

This has been my main producer. Productivity is high, size is just right. (I don't need monsters.) I like the texture, which is a moderately thin skin and melting (not mushy) flesh which let's you know it is a garden tomato. Flavor is good if there is sunshine the last week of ripening. Gray skies made bland flavor. Greatest weakness is susceptibility to radial cracking. Season usually ends due to early blight rather than weather, but other varieties make better fall fruit. Plants are easy to manage on a Florida weave trellis.

I haven't personally grown this tomato but have tasted some grown by friends. I agree with the other reviewers that the taste isn't anything to write home about.

These plants withstood being left on the back porch in the sun, wilting several times before being planted (sorry, plants). Gave great production of good tasting tomatoes with no problems. They were a nice size for salads. They kept going into October and I picked all the fruit before frost, and they ripened beautifully indoors up to Halloween! Will grow them again.

Produces fruit I'd expect to find in a grocery bin. Firm and tasteless. Production was very good, but who cares.

I was disappointed with the taste. The tomatoe looks beautiful and is quite carefree. Not much more to say. In my opinion a waste of space to grow.

Excellent semi-determinant variety for the gardener with limited space as well as the general vegetable gardener. Vigorous, high yielding, fine flavor (though not the equal of Brandywine), disease resistant. Grows well even with limited sun of 5 1/2 hours. Stake or cage. Ripens mid-season, continues to frost.
